Baseball fans — get ready! Diamond Youth Baseball is officially back in Montgomery, and the excitement ramps up this week as Alabama DYB hosts the Rookie State Tournament at Lagoon Park Softball, located at 2855 Lagoon Park Drive.
The tournament features age divisions 7U–12U and gets underway this Thursday, June 4, with the opening ceremony at 2 PM. Games will run through Sunday, with Monday reserved as a weather makeup day if needed.
Alabama State Director Ricky Phaturos shared an enthusiastic message for all participating teams, emphasizing sportsmanship and pride in reaching this stage.
“I congratulate and welcome each team to the Alabama Rookie State Tournament. No matter the outcome, everyone who has made it this far is already a winner. Enjoy the games and let the players do the same. Win or lose, be proud of their accomplishments, and always remember that good sportsmanship is the most important part of the game!
The State Champions and Runner-Ups in the 7U, 9U, and 11U divisions will earn the right to represent Alabama in the 2026 Regional World Series in Montgomery, July 15–20, 2026 — but we can all leave this tournament as WINNERS!”
With Diamond Youth Baseball returning to the Capital City and teams traveling from across the state, Montgomery is set for a thrilling weekend of competition, community, and plenty of ballpark energy.
