College All-Star Game to be Held in Montgomery

As we all know Football Season 2012 has begun, which of course will bring us to the College All-Star Game in January!  For more information read the press release below.


MONTGOMERY, Alabama – May 10, 2012 - The College Football All-Star Game, LLC, announced today that it will hold the inaugural College Football All-Star Game Saturday, January 19, 2013, at Montgomery’s historic Cramton Bowl. The week-long event will be the first college football all-star game of 2013 and feature 100 of the nation’s top college football seniors coached by former NFL coaches and evaluated by pro scouts. CBS Sports Network will televise the game live at 2:00 PM CT. 


"I am proud that Montgomery was chosen to host the College Football All-Star Game, because it will provide an opportunity to showcase our incredible sports facilities and our vibrant entertainment, dining and retail options" said Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange.

"We are pleased to partner with The Central Alabama Sports Commission and The College Football All-Star Game management team, and we look forward to a successful event that is expected to bring lots of economic impact to the City of Montgomery and the River Region.  

"The State of Alabama’s passion for college football, Montgomery’s history and tradition, and the renovation and expansion of Cramton Bowl make this the perfect location for The College Football All-Star Game"

said Johnny Williams, The College Football All-Star Game’s Executive Director.

"We are excited to partner with the City of Montgomery and the Central Alabama Sports Commission to provide a nationally recognized event for fans, athletes, and football personnel and bring a great event to this city."

 The College Football All-Star Game, LLC, is managed by a team with more than 250 years of college and professional football experience, ranging from former NFL General Managers to NCAA Division I College Athletic Directors.


"This will be another opportunity for professional scouts to evaluate players in a pro-style environment", said Joe Pendry, The College Football All-Star Game’s Director of Player Personnel.

"We will work directly with professional personnel to ensure the nation’s top prospects are participating in the game."

said Will Pope, The College Football All-Star Game’s Director of Marketing & Operations.

"It is our goal to create a week-long event similar to what is expected at a collegiate bowl game."

Montgomery is the capitol of Alabama, the second largest city in the State, and nationally known for its many historic, cultural landmarks and events. Montgomery is home to Cramton Bowl, which just received a $25 million renovation and expansion. Additions to the stadium include: a state-of-the-art press box, an aesthetically enhanced plaza area, a "Walk of Fame", and a 90,000 square-foot multiplex. Cramton Bowl was also home to the annual Blue Gray All-Star Classic for over 60 years.
